Sales Tax and Other Taxes

Sales and Use Tax

Sales and use tax calculation is a common task of running most businesses. California Retailers, manufacturers, and some wholesalers are subject to complex requirements for sales and use taxes by the CA Dept of Tax & Fee Administration, as well as the Board of Equalization. As a business owner, you are basically a middleman charged with collecting sales tax from consumers and paying the collected taxes to the CDTFA on their behalf. The rules and regulations are can be very complicated, with various exceptions, and are often very time-consuming to figure out on your own. Laws, rules, and rates can be different based on your product-line, whether you are wholesale or retail, if you sell your products online (on your own website or through a marketplace such as Amazon, Etsy, eBay), whether you are a manufacturer/installed/refurbisher, your delivery method, location, and more. Let us worry about all those details for you.

If you don't already have a California Seller's Permit, we will register one for your business and explain how to comply with all the filing and taxation requirements.

We will then work with you to identify which of your normal business transactions (if any) are subject to sales and use tax, and we will help you setup an efficient method to keep sales records organized.

When your sales tax returns are due (either monthly, quarterly, or annually), we will send you a reminder, as well as let you know what information is needed so we can prepare and file the required return and submit the payments on time to avoid costly mistakes and late fees. All sales tax returns and payments are done electronically.
